I didn’t realise that on a single straight run of 13 stairs that it would have a break in the middle which would lead to a bumpy ride. As for price I think I paid too much £3448 having never checked before I believed that was the going price because they said they could fit it straight away I went for it.On the day it should have been fitted we got a call 25 minutes before it should have been fitted saying it would not be possible that day.

The rail gets very black and looks dirty - disappointed. The chair lift itself is very good and has been a great help to my husband but the rail is a let down. We have only had the stairlift installed since January and have had the engineers out twice already. Wish we had shopped around.

Having recently moved home I’m now on my 2nd Acorn stairlift. It’s a marvellous bit of kit which I wouldn’t wish to be without. Should you have mobility issues don’t hesitate. My younger grandchildren also thoroughly enjoy playing with it.

My preferences were for a rack and pinion delivery system which I understand and trust and a system that could continue to provide acceptable service in the event of an extended mains power failure, ( more than 24hrs )

Due to my husband breaking a leg and having a stroke I was checking out stairlifts. He is now ok with the stairs, but if anyone else was considering one, I found the visit from the Acorn company by an advisor was extremely helpful. There was no pushing for a sale and everything was well explained to me at a difficult time with my husband being kept in hospital. Well done Acorn and thank you.

Why can't a stairlift be "parked" remotely at top or bottom, even if extra cost?

I only needed a short term rental. A brand new stairlift for a straight stairs including removal for £1300 for 6 months then £50pm. Best offer I had.

Poor initial assessment by surveyor as to suitability of location for stairlift . Ended up being installed in a different place but not suitable so cancelled the contract

Ordered and fitted in about 10 working days. Other companies quoting 4 and 6 weeks.

Stairlift cost a lot more than we expected but we got £500 off for letting them decide date of installation which was still very quick, less than a week. The rail takes up a lot of space. If we have visitors we have to set the chair with seat, foot rest & arms folded up to allow them to use the stairs. Otherwise the lift is working well & we are satisfied with the lift.
