There are number of frequent questions which we are asked. These include:
How long do they take in install?
Straight stairlifts should be relatively easy to install and can take as little as a few hours. Curved lifts will take much longer as the track on which the chair runs will have to be custom made to fit your staircase, and therefore take longer to fit.
What happens in a power cut?
Most modern stair lifts run on battery power. The battery is charged when the lift is resting either at the top or bottom of the staircase. Therefore in the event of a power cut the battery will hold sufficient charge to enable the user to use the lift.
Are they easy to control?
Most lifts are fitted with joystick style controls, simply push in the direction you wish to travel (up or down). Before buying ensure you are happy with the controls and that you find them easy to operate.
Do I need a straight or curved lift?
Please refer to our section on straight and curved lifts to determine which you require.
Do they fit a narrow staircase?
Yes. Certain manufacturers make lift specifically to fit narrow staircases.
How much do they cost?
The price will vary from staircase to staircase depending on whether you require a straight or curved lift, and also the length of the staircase. To obtain a price ask for an obligation free quote. You can call us to arrange this.
How long does the warranty last?
Most companies offer a 12 month warranty, plus the option to extend.
